WasHere Associates

Our Story

WasHere Associates began with a simple idea: to create applications that make a difference in people's lives. After years of experience in the tech industry, our founder decided it was time to bring their vision to life.

The name "WasHere" embodies our philosophy—we aim to leave a positive mark on the digital landscape, just as "Kilroy Was Here" left its mark throughout history. Each application we develop is crafted with care and attention to detail, designed to solve real problems and enhance the user experience.

Today, we focus on developing high-quality iOS applications that combine functionality with elegant design. Our small but dedicated team works passionately to bring innovative solutions to the App Store.

About the Founder

Ric Messier

Ric Messier

Founder & Security Expert

Ric Messier has been exploring computers and networks since the early 1980s, when "hacking" meant finding creative solutions rather than breaking systems. Today, he channels that curiosity into his work as a cybersecurity expert, author, and educator who helps organizations stay ahead of threats.

Beyond authoring 15+ books, Ric works as a security architect and consultant for Fortune 100 companies, assessing and enhancing their security posture. His career spans multiple technical domains: programming, system administration, network engineering, security management, VoIP engineering, consulting, and academia (including teaching at Harvard University).

A passionate advocate for knowledge sharing, Ric has developed master's degree programs in cybersecurity and taught countless students. His impressive collection of certifications (CISSP, CCSP, AWS CCP, GCP ACE, and more) complements his greatest asset: an insatiable curiosity about how systems work and how they can be improved.

Whether conducting penetration tests, designing cloud security architectures, or explaining complex security concepts in accessible ways, Ric brings expertise, creativity, and pragmatism to every project at WasHere Associates.
